Graduated from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy), specialised in Chemical Engineering in 1994. Currently based in Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana S.r.l. (headquartered in Corsico - Italy), with approximately 18 year experience in an engineering consultancy environment, for greenfield and revamping projects in bulk pharma manufacturing plants (chemical and biotech) and secondary pharmaceutical facilities (for both non-potent and high-potent products), for a number of major pharmaceutical Firms, among which Serono, Pfizer, Merck, Bayer, Jansen/Cilag, GSKbio and Novartis. Worked in projects throughout the different stages, from early design phases to detail design, then carrying over expertise to site for construction, start-up, commissioning and validation.
Key Skills: • Development and follow-up of process deliverables such as Equipment Lay-Out, Personnel/Material Flows, Engineering Flow Diagrams (P&ID, PFD), process equipment and instrument specifications, process description and basic control narrative, Equipment List, Fluid List, Consumption List • Performed extensive hydraulic calculations for both pumped and non-pumped systems, design and sizing of vessels, distributions and internals based on international standards and Client’s design practices • Evaluation of overpressure contingencies for process safety, determination of relief loads and sizing of safety valve inlet/outlet lines as per international API Standards • Participated in P&ID, HAZOP, GMP, 3D Model Review meetings with Client • Development (on behalf of Client) of URS for Process equipment and for Clean Utilities equipment and systems • Ownership of Process and Utilities equipment, including liasing with Vendors for all technical issues, review and approval of Vendor documents for compliance with process requirements • Review, approval and execution witnessing of FAT and SAT protocols prepared by equipment Vendor documents for verification of equipment compliance with project requirements • Preparation and execution of Commissioning Protocols for Black Utilities and Clean Utilities systems • Preparation of IQ, OQ and PQ Protocols for Process equipment and for Clean Utilities systems • Technical assistance for Sales and Commercial activities
