Giovanni Chiesa graduated in Nuclear Engineering from the Polytechnic University in Milan in 1980 and has been working in the Offshore Business since 1982 when he joined Saipem. In1997 he was appointed Engineering Manager at Saipem’s subsidiary Sonsub Inc. in Houston, TX working on various subsea and deep-water projects. Since 1999 through 2012 he has been working in Saipem subsidiary Saipem s.a. in Paris as Vice President Engineering responsible for the design and installation engineering activities of all subsea and deep-water projects executed by Saipem in various regions including West of Africa, MedSea, GoM and Offshore Brasil. In 2013 he took the position of Corporate Vice President Offshore Engineering & Technology Innovation in Saipem SpA for Subsea and Surface Facilities and Pipeline Technologies. Since 2017 through 2020 he was acting as Head of Subsea Engineering & Underwater Technologies within Saipem Offshore E&C Division with Corporate responsibility for engineering, technical management, and technology innovation for Saipem subsea and deep-water operations. In 2020 he took the position of Offshore Engineering Senior Advisor to Saipem Offshore E&C Division COO till September 2022 when he left Saipem. He is currently offering Engineering & Technology Management services to Players in the O&G, Renewables and Sustainable Infrastructures domains.
