More than a decade ago, I left the Netherlands to explore new opportunities in Indonesia. What began as a journey into the furniture industry eventually led me to something that completely reshaped my path: Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT). Since discovering CLT in 2019, I have been dedicated to introducing and developing this innovative construction technology in Indonesia. What started as curiosity became a mission: to prove that engineered timber can become a sustainable, high-quality alternative for the future of construction. As (Co)-Founder of INCLT, I have led the groundwork in developing CLT production, assembly techniques, and market acceptance in Indonesia. I established an R&D unit in Jepara, built partnerships through joint ventures, and worked on producing Indonesia’s first CLT panels — starting with Pine prototypes and progressing towards locally sourced species such as Acacia and Teak. Together with universities, researchers, architects, engineers, and government-related organisations, we have tested and validated CLT applications, including collaboration with PUPR Bandung. These efforts are helping create the foundation for commercial-scale production and the wider adoption of sustainable timber construction in Indonesia. Today, INCLT is moving from innovation into industrial development, with the ambition to supply sustainable timber solutions for hospitality, commercial buildings, schools, community projects, and beyond — in Indonesia and international markets. At my core, I am driven by curiosity, persistence, and a genuine passion for building things that matter. Creating solutions that combine sustainability, innovation, and local resources is what motivates me. CLT (and Glulam) just happens to be the perfect material for that. The Solution is Solid.
As Founder of INCLT, I am pioneering the introduction and development of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) technology in Indonesia. Over the past years, I have been leading the groundwork to establish CLT as a new sustainable construction solution for the Indonesian market; from developing production knowledge and assembly techniques to creating awareness, testing applications, and building partnerships with key stakeholders. Together with universities, research institutions, architects, engineers, developers, and government-related organisations, I have worked on demonstrating the potential of CLT in Indonesia’s unique building environment. This includes early CLT projects, technical validation, market development, and educating the industry about the opportunities of engineered timber construction. My mission is to make sustainable, high-quality timber construction accessible in Indonesia and beyond. INCLT focuses on combining advanced European CLT technology with Indonesia’s abundant renewable timber resources, creating solutions for hospitality, commercial buildings, schools, community projects, and sustainable developments. I believe the future of construction requires a shift towards materials that store carbon, reduce environmental impact, and create healthier living environments. Through INCLT, we aim to prove that timber is not only a traditional building material, but a modern, scalable solution for the future in Indonesia and beyond. The Solution is Solid.
