I've spent the last decade building engineering teams and products from the ground up — most recently as Deputy CTO at Weavr, one of the UK's leading embedded finance platforms. The through-line in my career is doing more with less, earlier than expected. At Comma, I joined as the first employee, scaled the engineering team to 18 people, and helped grow the company to 50 in 18 months — through to its acquisition by Weavr. There, I was promoted to sole VP of Engineering after 9 months, leading 40 engineers across seven teams. Today I focus on the things that compound: AI adoption that actually moves the needle (we cut lead times by 20–70%), engineering culture, quality ownership, and building the systems — career frameworks, engineering metrics, test strategy — that make teams better over time, not just faster this quarter. At Weavr, an EMI in the embedded finance space, I lead the engineering organisation with AI adoption at the centre of how we build and deliver — not as a vanity metric, but as a genuine lever for engineering effectiveness. I introduced AI tooling across the full software lifecycle (planning, coding, testing, and review), identifying champions and shifting team practices, contributing to a 20–70% improvement in lead time. Beyond AI, I’m responsible for engineering strategy, quality, and delivery across a regulated environment: transforming our testing approach to shift quality ownership to engineers, introducing DORA metrics as our measure of engineering health, standing up career frameworks, managing vendor relationships and engineering budgets, and balancing core tech roadmap against product delivery.
Joined from the acquisition of Comma and promoted to sole VP of Engineering after 9 months, leading 40 engineers across seven teams with three Engineering Managers reporting directly to me. Owned the engineering budget, vendor relationships, and technical roadmap, driving organisational design and engineering culture alongside the executive team. Delivered Weavr’s own EMI licence and three additional Financial Institution integrations while maintaining stakeholder alignment across a regulated environment.
