Passionate space systems engineer currently working in RNC Directorate at ESA, where I get to work on tools/projects that build, service and connect end-to-end communications systems in orbit and on ground. I graduated from UCL with an MSc in Space Science and Engineering, and before joining ESA as an EGT I co-founded a small tech AI start-up and worked as a regulatory consultant: a combo that gave me both engineering curiosity and a business-minded way of solving problems. I speak Italian, English and Romanian, and I’m trying to learn Spanish and French (even if I still sound like a confused tourist). Outside of space, I enjoy calisthenics, chess, cooking and football, and I have a soft spot for art history and classic films. I love working with international teams, exchanging ideas and discovering new technologies that could shake up the space and defence world! Mostly, I want to build a future where space is more accessible, more sustainable and way more exciting.
->ToTò | Architecture Performance & Trade Analysis Tool: Built an end-to-end MATLAB/Python performance model (RF link budget, constellation & subsystem sizing) with optimisation loops over link configuration, ground-segment and orbital parameters to close performance/availability constraints across LEO, vLEO and GEO architectures; delivered trade matrices, cost–performance deltas and modelling baselines (requirements, assumptions, verification checks) for architecture downselection at technical design reviews. ->Satellite Population Mapping Tool: Developing a dynamic Python-based orbital density analysis tool (TLE ingestion, J2 propagation, altitude-shell density computation) supporting in-orbit refuelling mission concepts and space infrastructure business cases. ->European SatCom SHLV Impact Study: Engineering study quantifying SHLV availability impacts on constellation sizing, altitude/inclination trade-offs, replenishment cadence and service-continuity resilience under launch-supply variability. ->Intelligent Systems Initiative: Contributing as systems engineer to ESA's initiative on advanced autonomy for SatCom: system studies, white papers and technical reports on AI-driven fault management, software-defined sats and minimum footprint ground ops; coordinating ARTES activities and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. ->ARTES | Low-Power Space-to-Ground Comms IoE Designed low-power space-to-space and to-ground communications architecture for an ESA ARTES proposal; translated link-budget assumptions into TT&C operational constraints and documented system implications for in-orbit experiment. ->AI Knowledge-Retrieval Workflow: Integrated an LLM API-based workflow for requirements traceability and design-review preparation across historical artefact libraries. ->Training: ESA Platform & Ground Segment Comms · University of Oxford Secure Space Systems (Secure SATCOM, Threat/Risk Assessment, COMSEC) · ESA/NEGOVIA Advanced Negotiation Strategies
