Assistant Professor at Bond University

About

I am currently employed as an Assistant Professor at Bond University's Business School, located in the picturesque Gold Coast. Prior to joining the university in April 2023, I held positions at RMIT and Swinburne Universities in Melbourne. At present, my teaching responsibilities encompass the courses of Entrepreneuriual Finance (undergraduate level) and Entrepreneurship and Innovation (masters level). My academic qualifications include a PhD in Innovation Management, which I acquired from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. I retain a strong commitment to teaching and conducting research within the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. My career trajectory originated in the realm of physics, where I initially served as a research scientist focusing on nuclear energy and underwater acoustics in South Africa. Subsequently, I transitioned to roles as a program manager within the electro-optics engineering and manufacturing sectors. My contributions in these positions were instrumental in advancing the development and commercialisation of novel innovations, project management, and international marketing initiatives. Furthermore, I assumed the role of general manager, overseeing the establishment of an assembly plant for high-tech products in Malaysia through a joint-venture operation involving South Africa and Malaysia. After immigrating to New Zealand in 1996, I established myself in Auckland, initially as a business consultant, before embarking on a career within academia. Beyond my scholarly pursuits, I am an active innovator and entrepreneur, both privately and as an employee. I have successfully launched and managed numerous physical and online businesses. This practical experience enhances my capacity as the Coaching Director in Bond University's student incubator, where I provide guidance and support to aspiring entrepreneurs.
