I started my career in 1977 in Coburg/Germany with the Federal Police (at that time known as Bundesgrenzschutz). Within the police-service I was also stationed in Nabburg, Deggendorf and Bonn. Within the police-service I had also postings in Rotterdam/NDL and Washington DC/USA. Before joining the German Foreign Office in 1985 I was working at the Border Police and stationed in Basel, Deutscher Personenbahnhof. Within the Diplomatic Service I had postings in Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Addis Ababa, Edinburgh and Nairobi. Back at the Foreign Office in Berlin I had a short stint at Policy Planning before posted to Kigali/Rwanda as Deputy as well as Head of Administration. In August 2018 I was posted as Consul to the German Consulate in Cape Town. Since July 2022 I am Head of Administration, Finance and HR at the German Embassy in Dar Es Salaam.
