Op 21 maart 2018 ben ik verkozen in de gemeenteraad van Soest als oprichter van Partij Ons SOESTerberg (POS), een lokale partij die zich inzet voor meer burgerparticipatie, met bijzondere aandacht voor Soesterbergers. Binnen drie maanden behaalde POS een zetel met de steun van bijna 800 kiezers en werd daarmee de grootste partij in Soesterberg. Op 16 maart 2022 groeiden we van één naar drie zetels, met ruim 1.500 stemmen meer dan in 2018. Daarmee zijn we, samen met GroenLinks, de grootste oppositiepartij in Soest. On March 21, 2018, I was elected to the municipal council of Soest as the founder of Party Ons SOESTerberg (POS), a local political party focused on increasing citizen participation, particularly for residents of Soesterberg. In just three months, POS secured a seat with the support of almost 800 voters, becoming the largest party in Soesterberg. On March 16, 2022, we grew from one to three seats, gaining over 1,500 additional votes compared to 2018. This made us, along with GroenLinks, the largest opposition party in Soest.
For the International Spectator (currently the Clingendael Spectator), I wrote a number of analysis and essays regarding the Syrian Civil War, and a book review on Al Qaeda. Apart from that I am also a member of the editorial board.
As a member of the Editorial Board for the Clingendael Spectator I, among others, help decide and discuss the direction of the editorial policy of the Clingendael Spectator.
De Nederlandse Vereniging voor Raadsleden organiseert bijeenkomsten, doet onderzoeken en behartigt de belangen van raadsleden op landelijk niveau. De vereniging heeft 5500 leden. Als bureau- en verenigingssecretaris ondersteunde ik het bestuur, leidde en organiseerde ik projecten en onderzoeken, voerde ik namens de vereniging op hoog niveau overleggen met kennispartners, VNG en het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken, en trad ik op als plaatsvervanger van de directeur. Ik droeg in de breedste zin van het woord bij aan een prachtige missie: het versterken van de positie van gemeenteraden en raadsleden in Nederland. The Nederlandse Vereniging voor Raadsleden organizes events, conducts research, and advocates for the interests of councillors at the national level. The association represents 5,500 members. As the bureau and association secretary, I supported the board, led and organized projects and research, conducted high-level meetings on behalf of the association with knowledge partners, the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG), and the Ministry of the Interior, and acted as the deputy director. I contributed in the broadest sense to a meaningful mission: strengthening the position of municipal councils and councillors in the Netherlands.
