My objectives in the positions I have experienced was to implement a career path helping professionals develop a focus on improving learning outcomes for children. As a result of a work history that included success at helping districts transform to meet 21st Century needs I was asked by the New York State Commissioner of Education to supervise the transition of the Roosevelt School District from a state take over district to a district able to operate under local control. These skill sets included management alignment, development of decision making skill sets and planning learning experiences necessary to sustain efforts to change the failed culture of the District. I have worked for over ten years, as president of the Teaching Financial Literacy group and with Cognitive Process Corporation, to help build awareness of the need for international understanding of the importance of teaching financial literacy. International PISA results support the need for building greater financial awareness among students.
I work with senior corporate management to help focus on services and product. I currently chair the Eduction Advisory Council, a group of superintendents and school officials, who help guide the company in projecting future needs for serving students who may be in need of additional instructional support via live on line certified teachers.
Company works on transforming information into knowledge in the area of finance literacy and entrepreneurship. We helped train employees to transform their employee skills allowing them to develop attributes allowing them to become entrepreneurs. We asked how are you thinking rather than what are you thinking? We have empirical evidence to support our belief that people learn better with the assistance of visual tools that model how the brain processes information.
Working under the authority of the New York State Commissioner of Education I planed and integrated policy and practices that stabilized district operations and allowed for the restoration of local governance and the end of the State's ten year control of the District. I supported the Board of Education in planning, executing and evaluating programs that built fiscal stability while improving learning outcomes for children.
Work to integrate financial literacy concepts into mandated instruction in public schools. Focused on helping students learn how to think "out of the box" and implement what they have learned for rewarding daily living experiences.
Responsible for developing national strategy for helping classroom teachers learn how to teach financial literacy. Provide liaison with government and private agencies to build awareness of the need for financial literacy instruction. Provided testimony for a congressional committee on the need for financial literacy instruction. Demonstrated the use of visual tools as a vehicle for transforming information into knowledge.
