About

Let's go ahead in crisis situations! I am an Austrian qualified and Dutch rooted lawyer and partner at Binder Grösswang in Vienna with 14+ years of national as well as international experience. I focus on restructuring & insolvency and distressed corporate/M&A. In 2021, I was seconded to De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam. The Legal 500 ranks me as a "Next Generation Partner" (2025), Chambers Europe in "Band 3" (2026), IFLR1000 as a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” (2025) and JUVE as "Aufsteiger" (2026) in the Austrian market. Clients state: "BG's lead partner Dr. Georg Wabl is fantastic - he has a profound, exceptional knowledge of all legal aspects relevant in relation to restructurings and insolvencies, and he is a great negotiator, very hands-on and pragmatic." (IFLR1000, 2025) I have a strong passion for academia and try to live and create synergies with legal practice every day - as a Lecturer at University of Vienna and Leiden University (Netherlands), with my completed PhD at University of Vienna under supervision of Professor Andreas Konecny (focus on directors' duties in crisis situations) and my LL.M. at Queen Mary University of London (where I also worked as research assistant for Professor Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal). I am author of numerous publications and frequent speaker. Reach out for more!
