5G will enable new services for public safety, IoT, autonomous systems. I work to ensure a consistent set of 3GPP CoreNetwork standards & good coordination between the stakeholders to bring 5G from initial hype to real success. My current focus -> Creating a more flexible, open and cloud-based mobile CoreNetwork to become the service enabler for vertical industries. -> Establishing a strong link between vertical industries and 3GPP -> Ensuring the quality and success of standards by coordination between different interests and groups. -> Keeping promised 2020 time line for completion of 5G standards. My areas of activity - 3GPP Core & Service Based Architecture - Cooperation between 3GPP, IETF and other standards bodies - Presentations, articles and interviews on 5G progress - Ensuring timely completion of 3GPP Mission Critical Services work My skills - Leading groups of international competitors to collaborate and agree on technical solutions - Identifying and incorporating industry requirements into standards - Promoting technical solutions to an audience of experts & decisions makers - Committed to continuously enhancing communication infrastructure with new technologies - 20 years of experience in information technology, mobile comms & standards I was named one of the "50 Innovators to Watch" by Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Magazine in their March 2017 issue -- https://www.globaltelecomsbusiness.com/article/b12vcjzk9zn9cj/gtb-announces-50-innovators-to-watch-for-2017#/.WUR8P5n38tc.twitter. I co-authored the book "The IMS: IP Multimedia Concepts and Services", which is available in its 3rd edition -- http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0470721960.html Between 2004 and 2007 I taught a course on "SIP and IMS" at the Oxford Universities Department for Continuing Education. Besides that I hold more than 25 patents in the area of mobile communication and was one of the three top inventors in Nokia in 2003/4.
