I am a Human Resources professional passionate about building high-functioning teams. I have over 20 years of experience, I have worked in both Canada and the United States, and I have worked in healthcare, industrial construction, and engineering & environmental consulting. I am bilingual English (native) and Spanish (intermediate).
Primarily responsible for the recruitment of craft employees. Additional responsibilities included coaching, disability management, organizing trade/career fairs, employee file management and general HR administration. During COVID I was part of the team that created and integrated a remote hiring process that included video orientations and online onboarding.
Responsible for coaching frontline Supervisors and Senior Operation leaders on employee management and engagement methods and tools, human resources best practices, legal interpretations and implications, and collective agreement interpretations. Responsible for facilitating the employer relationship with Union representatives during investigations, grievances, or general inquiries. This includes coordinating investigations, managing investigation documents, conducting investigative interviews, and coaching supervisors for investigations and grievance proceedings. Coach Operations managers on decision making factors, develop solutions, and mitigate risks as they pertain to the various disciplines of human resources.
Responsible for all functions of Human Resources in Canada including recruitment, labour relations, benefits administration, performance management, and training. Advise the US teams on Canadian HR and Payroll standards. Manage the TFW program. Manage the Safety Program in Canada including modified work and return to work programs. In addition, I was responsible for the set up and day-to-day operations of the Canadian Regional office and shop. Internally trained as a purchaser (PO creation and coding) and receiver (including document control). Also responsible for capital purchasing, building security & maintenance, equipment management, logistics, account management, IT, and some tender preparations and review and some business development.
Responsible for the sourcing and hiring of senior management, professional, and administrative employees. Duties include working with hiring managers and senior management to source, interview and hire; arrange pre-access testing (when applicable); conduct reference checks, and compile all hire-on documentation (including site access documentations). Create processes, procedures, and policies around HR functions; managed the engineering co-op program; managed the sourcing, contracting and implementation of an Applicant Tracking system; negotiated contracts with third party manpower agencies; sourced and booked training for all levels of the organization; counselled managers on performance management issues and participated in terminations; represented the organization in philanthropy initiatives and community engagement programs.
