Gained hands-on experience at a top-tier COMAH site as part of the Technical Engineering Team. Tasked with several key project deliverables involving working within UK PSSR legislation to inspect, specify and repair pressure systems, assess site vulnerability for deterioration mechanisms and create task delivery specifications to support major Turnaround activities. Part of the low-temperature embrittlement project, carried out detailed hand-written stress analysis on pressure systems using relevant industry standards and fitness for service codes such as ASME B31.3, PD5500 and API 579. This work involved assessing existing materials and design of piping and pressure vessels for low-temperature operation, identifying potential risks of brittle fracture to ensure ongoing mechanical integrity and compliance with industry codes. Developed a strong understanding of safety culture and engineering best practices and gained a deeper appreciation of the critical role Mechanical Engineers play in maintaining plant equipment that ensures safe and reliable operations.
