I am a Technical Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (TechCIOB) and currently undertaking a Level 6 Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship with BAM UK & Ireland.
I worked in the food hall department on the shop floor. My duties include organising orders, processing transactions and working with the public.
I was given the opportunity to attend the rail office over a few weeks and to see how the construction teams work together with a particular interest in the commercial element of project management. After my school lessons finished, I would travel to the office and would sit with an existing commercial apprentice to gain knowledge on how a Quantity Surveyor manages the project commercially.
For three months I worked most weekdays at Old Bexley Primary School. It consisted of football coaching younger children to develop their abilities in which I took many sessions on my own including large groups. This helped me develop my social skills and leadership attributes due to the high levels of responsibility that was given to me in order to plan and lead sessions.
