I've been involved with computers since primary school, obtaining an A at GCSE level for Computer Science. I wanted to take this further so I did A-Level Computing and achieved an A*, in addition to As in Physics and Maths. I also did an Extended Project on using technology to evolve humans, also known as Transhumanism. I achieved an A for this. Thanks to my grades I was able to achieve an unconditional offer to Newcastle University where I am currently studying Computing at degree level. But I have also done things outside of my academics including volunteering to help the elderly with their computer issues. This was immensely rewarding and helped me improve my skills in communication and customer service. I then furthered this with work experience while working with the IT department in Friarage Hospital, Newcastle which helped me work as part of a group and handle certain sensitive issues with care. Since starting university, I have been trying to get myself as involved as possible. One way I did this was by getting involved with the university paper, The Courier. My involvement earned me Journalist of the Year for 2020. The skills I have learned have been invaluable as my researching and writing abilities have improved drastically.
