As a mechanical engineer valve and actuator expert, I take part in various different projects regarding mechanical equipment for the nuclear or classic industry. The diversity of challenges encountered, from technical expertise to on-site works, allows me fully appreciating new and complex situations. My job and the projects that are offered to me, allow me to work in teams with different services in order to understand every aspect of a project (IT department, reactor and fluid systems, structural integrity calculations etc.). My regular contacts with manufacturers, as a contract owner or for technical purpose, enhance my global understanding of this demanding industry.

Project manager for Electricité De France (EDF) My responsibilities are the following: - Management and coordination of business stakeholders; - Technical management and animation of all stakeholders involved in the project; - Responsible for the project planning and control of the costs of the business; - Monthly reporting to the client's hierarchy; - Drafting elements of weekly and monthly reports; - Establishment and update of the risk analysis of the business (in collaboration with business contributors); - Relations with suppliers; - Technical monitoring of suppliers in the study/supply/construction phase and management of mechanical and structural design managers; - Technical monitoring of suppliers for issues related to on-site installations; - Interface and technical monitoring of other interface professions (electricity, civil engineering, etc.); - Management of contracts specific to the business; - Coordination and management of interfaces between the Studies teams and the Project teams as well as the various contributors to the Business All of these activities are carried out in close collaboration with all the stakeholders of the business: Studies, Purchasing, Project, on-site realisation.
OPTIMOV stands for Optimization Program for Testing without Intrusion of Motor Operated Valves. As a team of 7 engineers in the nuclear mechanical department of Tractebel, we are working in close collaboration with other teams to ensure the operability of ~1250 safety related valves equipped with an electrical actuator in all the nuclear power plants of Belgium. My daily job is to share my expertise about valves and actuators, to manage the team members and define their tasks and subjects they have to develop, to verify the technical notes they issue and increase the quality of information we deliver day after day.
As Supply and Project Engineer : • Purchase of mechanical equipment and particularly valves (control valves, safety valves, isolation valves...) - Technical expertise and definition of the needs; - Preparation of the documents – Technical Requisition File, technical notes, design specifications, commercial documents, ...for call for tenders; - Review and analysis of the supplier’s bids; - Support in the commercial negotiations with the suppliers; - Factory Acceptance Test and validation of the equipment manufacturing; - Follow-up of the contract from the kick-off meeting until the final acceptance on site. • Qualification of equipment during test campaigns. • Manufacturing follow-up of equipment in close cooperation with the Quality Surveillance section and with the Customer. • Expertise in mechanical equipment, particularly for valves, check valves, safety relief valves,… (from design to site commissioning) and adequate knowledge related to safety regulation. • Assisting the Project Manager and the Customer in meetings and technical discussions with the Safety Authorities. • Dimensionning of electrical actuators (following NRC Generic Letter 96-05). • Dimensionning of pneumatic actuators.
