Greater Cardiff Area
I am a purpose-driven leader committed to creating sustainable, human-centred solutions through innovative thinking and principled leadership. As Chief Transport Planning and Development Officer at Transport for Wales, I lead strategic efforts to tackle complex challenges and shape inclusive, data-informed approaches to regional development. I thrive on challenging the status quo, fostering collaboration, and driving meaningful change that benefits people, communities, and the planet. My goal is to help build a fairer, more resilient future. Background: In April 2018 I joined Transport for Wales as the Consultancy and Corporate Services Director, having previously been seconded to TfW in 2015 as its Programme and Business Director and Interim Managing Director, leading this new Welsh Government arms length body in its advisory capacity to the Welsh Government for the new Wales and Borders Rail Franchise and the South Wales Metro development. Throughout this early period in TfW's evolution, a key aspect of my role included the establishment of many core organisational fundamentals, including establishing the head office at Llys Cadwyn, Pontypridd. I have been involved with the Institution of Civil Engineers Wales Cymru (ICE) since 2002, initially as an Elected Member (2002-2005), then Honorary Treasurer (2005-2009), then one of the Vice Chairmen until 2012 when I became Chairman of ICE Wales Cymru for the 2012-13 session. I was Regional Member for Wales on ICE Council from 2014-2020 and was a member of ICE’s Initial Professional Development Panel until 2024. Outside work I am a keen (but not necessarily fast) runner, having completed 3 half-marathons and many more 10km races. I swim and cycle regularly - and I’ve even done two Sprint Triathlons - I’m probably the person most surprised by this fact! I've also reinvigorated my interest in photography - supporting my curiosity and creativity.
