I was ten years old the first time I preached a sermon. On the drive home, my dad looked at me in the rearview mirror and said, "Son, you have a way with words. It's a gift. It's also a responsibility." I've spent the rest of my life trying to live up to both halves of that sentence. The road took some turns. I pastored churches. I drove a cab. I sold automotive interiors, taught middle school English, and chased storms across North America as a catastrophe adjuster. Today I serve as Senior Vice President at Mid-America Catastrophe Services and President of Adjust U, where we train the next generation of claims professionals — because this industry runs on expertise, and expertise has to be built, one adjuster at a time. Along the way, I never stopped writing or speaking. Four decades on stages. A novella, a devotional, two books of poetry, and a growing collection of short stories inspired by the American songbook. Whatever the room — a training class, a keynote, a boardroom, a page — the work is the same: words, used well, in service of people doing hard things. Responsible for all facets of the operation, including best practices, company culture, client services, adjuster services, internal and external communications, personnel, and production. I provide leadership, guidance, and resource stewardship.
Managed two key client accounts. Managed Hurricanes Harvey, Florence, and Michael. Edited the company newsletter and managed other internal and external communications.
I managed the construction & maintenance teams for Texas markets. This means oversight of product, production, planning, budgets, and personnel for all rehabs, turns, and occupied maintenance concerns.
Manage single-family home turns (rental make-ready); perform move-in orientation and move-out inspections; communicate and coordinate with property management property leasing teams to create a seamless, efficient process for moving homes through the rental make-ready stages. I also work with the maintenance team to assure customer service and satisfaction.
I manage the claims examiner/admin team, working directly with our client's executive, management, and vendor oversight personnel.
