Giacomo grew up in Trezzo sull’Adda (Italy), and completed his undergraduate studies at the “Universitá degli Studi” in Milan. He conducted his thesis projects in collaboration with Prof. Dalla Croce and Prof. La Rosa, obtaining his Master’s degree in 2012. In the same year, he joined the Chemical Synthesis CDT programme at the University of Bristol (UK), where, in 2013, he undertook his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. John F. Bower. Here, he investigated novel strategies for selective C–C bond formation via C–H activation. In 2017, Giacomo joined the group of Prof. Paolo Melchiorre at ICIQ (Spain) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow. His research focused on the development of novel asymmetric protocols enabled by the photochemical activation of organocatalytic and organometallic intermediates. In 2019, he was appointed Lecturer in Organic Chemistry within the group of Prof. David Procter, at the University of Manchester.
