Gema had formal education in Nursing in the University “Autonoma” of Madrid in 1997. She obtained a Master´s degree in Nursing Science by the University of Alicante in 2006 obtains a PhD at this University in 2016. She has been working as a nurse researcher at the Spanish Nursing Research Unit (Investén-isciii) since 2003m, where she worked as research nurse advisor for the Spanish Collaborating Center of the Joanna Briggs Institute. She is reviewer of several scientific nursing journals and. She also has collaborated as researcher in national and European funded projects. She teaches in the areas of research methodology and systematic reviews methods, typically mentoring undergraduate students and healthcare professionals interested in nursing research. Gema´s research focusses on knowledge translation and its effects on clinical and social contexts. Since 2019 she is the head of the San Rafael-Nebrija Health Sciences University Center.
