Provide guidance and leadership to three program teams responsible for the oversight of 7 Child Nutrition programs and 3 Federal and State grant programs.
Responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Nutrition Programs administered by the California Department of Education including: • National School Lunch Program • School Breakfast Program • Summer Meal Programs • Afterschool Snack Program • Special Milk Program • Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Lead the administration of federal and state grant programs providing supplemental funding to Local Educational Agencies. Grant programs include: • Federal Equipment Assistance Grant • State Summer and School Breakfast Startup Grant • California Grown Fresh School Meals Grant Launch and provide support for special state and federal projects including: • California Universal School Meals beginning in 2022 • U.S. Department of Agriculture Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program Develop and maintain relationships with partners including advocate organizations and other federal and state governmental agencies. Directly manage the Summer Meals Unit, composed of seven Program Specialists, a Child Nutrition Consultant, and an Office Technician. In 2016, the Summer Meal Programs served more than 16 million meals to needy children.
