I am a motivated Global Health Economics / Health Technology Assessment (HTA) /Director and leader in Value and Access, with 20+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry and over 10 years in value and access. Working with more than 40 countries worldwide, I’ve developed an in-depth knowledge of HTA and pricing & reimbursement requirements. This is complimented by experience in Health Economics evidence generation to address gaps and meet payer needs across the lifecycle, as well as knowledge of clinical development. I combine strategic acumen, an analytic approach, the ability to derive meaningful insights and strong communication skills. Ultimately, I strive to achieve rapid access for patients to innovative medicines using a compelling, evidence-based approach.
As a Global Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) in Oncology at Ipsen, I am responsible for leading HEOR input and strategy development to support optimal pricing / reimbursement and patient access throughout product lifecycles. I lead, plan and execute payer-focused evidence that addresses payer needs and demonstrates product value – including HEOR aspects of clinical trials, prospective / retrospective real-world studies, and economic modelling. This requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders including market access, clinical development and medical affairs, as well as external suppliers, data sources and subject matter experts / thought leaders. Ipsen is an agile mid-size biopharmaceutical company, where the Global HEOR team closely collaborates with affiliates to plan and deliver HTA / reimbursement submissions and negotiations, as well as to maintain or expand reimbursement and increase product uptake through provision of value tools. As a senior member of the team, I am a subject matter expert, helping to develop the HEOR group, and to expand and evolve Ipsen’s capabilities and external relationships. Additionally, helping to identify and plan for future trends, challenges and opportunities in HEOR / market access (e.g. ways of working, technical skills, policy changes).

The group’s remit is to ensure HTA readiness of core materials (e.g. Global Value Dossiers), shape HTA strategy and support development of high-quality reimbursement submissions and responses to payer questions, subsequently reflecting learnings and insights back into the organization. As Therapy Area Head, I supervise HTA Leads with specific product responsibilities in the General Medicine area – developing the team and providing portfolio level oversight of strategy, HTA planning / execution and cross-product insights. This role has a particular focus on HTA input to pipeline – with responsibility for HTA landscaping, horizon scanning, and HTA scientific engagement – to help shape clinical development, real world evidence, and value proposition from an early stage. My responsibilities also include managing the HTA Writing team – a dedicated group aimed at excellence in writing evidence-based, high quality Global Value Dossiers, individual country reimbursement / HTA submissions and payer responses.

He or she ensures that evidence generation projects are designed and conducted to a high standard, and that value-related documents and tools (e.g. reimbursement submissions, value stories, economic models and account calculators) are based on the best, most robust evidence.
Individual HTA Leads work with cross functional partners to ensure HTA readiness and patient focus of core materials for specific products. They partner with all local affiliates worldwide on adapting and aligning local HTA strategy with global guidance, then collaborate to execute high quality submissions and responses to payer questions.
