  • PHD Candidate; seeking contract at Reed
    Oct 2022 - Oct 2023 · 1 yr 1 mo

As part of levelling up incentive, I was enroled to REED Restart scheme to get employment in a field with a progressive employer. I focused on Hydrogen blending and CCUS within National Gas Transmission, major energy and civil service aswell as the National gas distribution companies. This gave much experience and many Teams discussions alongside companies running Ofgem funded programmes. Undergone vocational training & competence, to ensure I have training and suitability for gas sites involved with testing and hydrogen bleding, at the processing and onsore gas terminals I did the training for 'Client Contractor National Safety Group': • IOSH, Institute for Occupational Safety & Health. Safety for Executives & Directors. • Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, ECITB: CCNSG: Health & Safety Passport • Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, ECITB: CCNSG: Leading a Team Safely Applied for National Grid funded PhD on Effect of hydrogen on the fatigue behaviour of defected metallic materials used in the UK's gas pipelines. Considering Structural Integrity, crevice corrosion / Hydrogen Embrittlement Corrosion, HEC failure / H2 fatigue on pipeline materials (steels & cast irons compared to leaded bronze) Sheffield University Department of Civil & Structural Engineering would be conducting in-house testing for the studentship. PhD Candidate until National Grid business split to National Grid & National Gas, Professor changed emplpyment from Seffield University to Sheffield Halam University. https://www.findaphd.com/phds/project/effect-of-hydrogen-on-the-fatigue-behaviour-of-defected-metallic-materials-used-in-the-uk-s-gas-pipeline-network/?p141023

  • Consultant at Self.
    Jan 2022 - Oct 2022 · 10 mos

After working based at site throughout covid-19 as a key-worker, I expanded the technician job to include senior level duties & quality manager responsibilities at site, and for customer services. I applied end Dec of 2021 for an additional 1 hour per day to work as a lead within the DNV technical testing & laboratory services. DNV Role ended due to post covid company wide changes due to them cutting contractors to reduce staff numbers after end of furlough. Lack of new gas rig licenses & lack of gas meters being tested at site. Industry leading operator gas drilling development projects on-hold; HM Gov's Net Zero change in energy policy was cited. I started the year on Programme discussions on Infrastructure, Bio-gas & fuels, H2 testing & CCUS. Applying for job positions within National Grid, Cadent, SGN, and BEIS / DESNZ and discussing the technical assurance, project, risk and concerns. Helping elderly mother with dementia, especially since July when dad passed away. Have maintained links with NationalGrid & DNV test facilities; Flow centre, RAF Spadeadam test facilities for explosive environment testing. Future grid programme for mini-grid testing of H2 blending with National Grid & Gas. Applied for National Grid funded PhD on Effect of hydrogen on the fatigue behaviour of defected metallic materials used in the UK's gas pipelines. Considering Structural Integrity, crevice corrosion / Hydrogen Embrittlement Corrosion, HEC failure / H2 fatigue on pipeline materials (steels & cast irons compared to leaded bronze) Sheffield University Department of Civil & Structural Engineering would be conducting in-house testing for the studentship.
