Manage the portfolio of external innovation partnerships and/or collaborations and convert the ones of interest to Novus into active pipeline projects. Identify emerging new trends that can have great potential and new business spaces for Novus Leadership on Mergers and Acquisitions: Opportunity space evaluation, company/technology identification, strategic/technology fit assessments, business case development, assessment/pre-due diligence and ELT/Board Recommendations. Assist finance as needed on deal negotiations and working with legal on contract agreements, formal Due Diligence, integration and execution. Partner with Technology Scouting to conduct ongoing surveillance for potential opportunities within the Novus areas of interest and identify potential targets that meet strategic criteria Partner with Technology Scouting, Animal Research and Strategic Marketing to review external discovery ideas, technologies, and spaces as well as to evaluate strategic fit, opportunity, and value to Novus Lead the cross functional evaluation of external opportunities and ensure resources are engaged efficiently and in a timely manner for a quick turnaround, and provide recommendation to the Steering Committee and/or ELT for go/no go decisions Assess and lead the exploratory work of new projects in early phases to determine their entrance in the innovation pipeline Identify external financing opportunities (federal grants, Venture Capital, JVs, Angel Investors, etc,) Develop and maintain a network of relationships with key industry innovators and experts (start-ups, scientists, organizations, investors, etc.). Lead and manage Novus representation at technology partnering forums Ownership of innovation processes

Primary job responsibilities are segmented into three groups: Business Development Function - Evaluation of new technologies from a technical, IP, commercial and regulatory standpoint and recommending potential partnerships. - Pursue strategic partnerships to develop and globally market new products. - Market research and due diligence on potential partners and competitors in the target markets. Project Management Function - Assist the R&D team in determining a product development plan. - Develop and manage project timelines and expenses. - Make contact with the US regulatory agencies to determine an ideal regulatory path for new products and file for product approval. Intellectual Property Management and Licensing Function - Develop intellectual property strategies and manage patent portfolio. - Perform freedom-to-operate, patentability analysis & keep track of relevant patents filed by the competitors. - Work on patent applications, prosecutions and litigations by coordinating with national & international patent attorneys. - Strategize & implement patent and know-how in-licensing and out-licensing activities.
