As a transport planner and modeller for over 30 years, Gary has extensive practical and academic skills in the transport planning & traffic engineering fields. He has worked extensively in South Africa and overseas, on assignments in Australia, China and South Korea. Most recently he has prepared the rail passenger forecasts for the consulting team preparing the new 15 year concession for the the Gautrain Management Agency. His academic interest is in the efficient design of stated preference (SP) surveys for choice preference simulation and the application of advanced discrete choice models. He has also undertaken research into the estimation of willingness-to-pay microeconomic measures for product and service planning and market share analysis. The willingness-to-pay measures have been estimated for South Africa urban public transport choice and vehicle route choice.
