Garry has played at the Ryde Eastwood Competition since 1983 & played State Cup with the Hawks since 1985, Joined The Hawks committee in 1986 and in 1996 was installed as a Life Member, In 2002 was voted Hawks Clubman of the Year.In 2008 NSWTA Blues Award for Service & Dedication to the sport & Again in 2011 NSWTA Blues Award for Outstanding Volunteering in Touch. In 2007 Ryde Eastwood was NSWTA Regional Affiliate of the year. Ryde Eastwood Touch was established in the 1970s and is still going strong today. The Junior comp now has over 50 teams and the adults comp over 40 teams, competition is played on Monday nights at Morrison Bay Park at Putney NSW. The club is affiliated with NSWTA and sends representative teams to the NSW State Cup & NSW Junior State Cup at Port Macquarie each year
