I am driven by the belief that stronger intelligence creates stronger evidence, supports stronger decisions and delivers stronger organisational outcomes. For over a decade, I transformed publicly available information into Open-Source Intelligence that supported investigations, operational activity and decision making across UK policing. I led Merseyside Police's Digital Media Intelligence Unit, where decisions carried significant consequences and confidence in the Open-Source Intelligence supporting those decisions was critical. The challenge is rarely finding information; it is available in unprecedented volumes. The challenge is determining relevance, assessing reliability, applying critical reasoning and professional judgement, testing assumptions and distinguishing fact from speculation. Publicly available information only becomes intelligence when it is collected, assessed, analysed and applied through a structured and defensible methodology. That principle became the foundation of Inquiro Intelligence. I established Inquiro Intelligence after recognising that organisations outside law enforcement faced many of the same challenges. Important decisions were being made in increasingly complex information environments, often without the structured intelligence capability required to fully exploit publicly available information. Today, Inquiro Intelligence helps organisations strengthen Open-Source Intelligence capability through methodology-led training, consultancy and capability development.
