About

Gareth is a Lecturer in Law at the HRC School of Law at Swansea University, where he principally teaches constitutional law topics, comparative politics and legal systems. His research interests lie in public law, political history and constitutional theory. Gareth's current research focusses on constitutional matters relating to the Welsh devolution settlement and includes projects on Senedd reform and the devolution of the Crown Estate in Wales. His earlier work includes papers on the Welsh Liberals at Westminster in the late-nineteenth century, federalism, and the dynamics of the UK's territorial constitution during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has been the recipient of research grant funding from the Society of Legal Scholars, and held the Drew Scholarship at Gladstone's Library in 2023. At the HRC School of Law, Gareth is module leader for Legal System, Canadian Constitutional Law, and the Law of Devolution in Wales. He also leads a Masters module titled 'Devolution in Comparative Perspective' in the School of Politics. Gareth has been the Admissions Tutor for law undergraduate programmes since 2021. He also holds external positions as a Controbuting Writer at the Constitutiton Society, a member of the Learned Society of Wales' (LSW) Advisory Group for Researcher Development, the LSW Wales Studies Delivery Group, and the Society of Legal Scholars' Legal Education Committee.
