Singapore
I am a driven and passionate Chemical Engineering student at Singapore Polytechnic, equipped with a strong foundation in industry-relevant technical skills as well as interpersonal and soft skills. I have experience working collaboratively in team environments and have developed strong communication and leadership abilities, which enables me to contribute effectively in both academic and professional settings. Through the Chemical Engineering course at Singapore Polytechnic, I have gained a firm understanding of key concepts such as thermodynamics, mass transfer, fluid dynamics, chemical reaction engineering, process instrumentation and control, separation processes, and plant design. However, the most valuable skill I have developed goes beyond these technical areas. It is my belief that the ability to solve problems effectively is the most versatile and useful skill I have obtained. Going through these complex modules has honed my analytical thinking and reinforced my problem-solving skillset, which I believe is at the heart of being an engineer. I also have experience with various Chemical Engineering software, including Aspen HYSYS, Loop-Pro, SCADA systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS). This exposure was particularly impactful as it allowed me to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application. Using HYSYS, I was able to design and simulate full-scale chemical plants, while Loop-Pro enhanced my understanding of controller tuning. Additionally, operating and controlling actual plant systems such as Singapore Polytechnics very own integrated pilot plant through SCADA and DCS provided valuable practical experience in process control and plant operations.
