As a Chemical Engineering Major and a servant leader at heart, I am faced with many instances that hone my problem solving skills. As a servant leader, I prioritise the needs of others and strive to leave a positive impact. Working with others is where I thrive, I enjoy listening and taking into account to different perspectives and working together to achieve a common goal. Being a chemical engineer, I approach problems analytically and systematically to create innovative solutions.
This internship is part of my industrial attachment with NUS and I am very grateful for the experience to work in Givaudan! I learnt a lot about large scale manufacturing process, process optimisatiob and work ethics. As a production systems intern, I assisted Givaudan Production Systems in data analysis to highlight areas for process optimisatiob.
I went back to work for Clearvision again for the summer break. I collaborated with doctors and other staff members to run eye test, coordinate consultation schedules.
I learnt to run basic eye tests according to the patients' concerns and also according to the doctor's instructions. Other than eye tests, I worked on admin work. For instance, I booked appointments and answered calls, billing and preparation of medication as prescribed by the doctors. The most important things I learnt from this experience was empathising with patients and also interpersonal relationships. These two values are important to ensure that a patient can be comfortable and share any troubles they are going through.
I maintained dedicated areas in the store by ensuring clothing are folded properly, cleanliness of the environment and also answering customer's queries.
