She provides strategic guidance on AI adoption, product development, and go-to-market success—while also creating opportunities for startups to gain visibility, connect with customers, and grow their audience through content, events, and partnerships. Before joining Microsoft, Gabriela held executive roles at IBM, where she helped shape AI strategy and drive open-source innovation. As IBM’s Chief Data Scientist, she led cross-functional teams and spearheaded AI strategy and innovation, launching high-impact initiatives like the Watson Innovations Program. As Program Director for AI Open-Source Technologies, she led multiple Data & AI initiatives, expanding IBM’s presence in the open-source ecosystem and fostering global collaboration with developer communities. Earlier in her career, Gabriela worked at multiple startups, where she wore many hats—from building data science solutions and leading product experimentation to coaching teams and helping scale operations. Beyond her corporate leadership, Gabriela is the founder of two global communities—R-Ladies and AI Inclusive—focused on increasing diversity and inclusion in tech. R-Ladies now spans over 225 cities across 65+ countries with more than 100,000 members, while AI Inclusive works to increase the representation and participation of minorities in AI. Gabriela is passionate about democratizing AI, supporting the next generation of tech leaders, and empowering people to navigate nonlinear career paths with confidence.
