About

Hey! I’m Gabriel de Mello, also known as Rabiscomello — a passionate illustrator focused on bringing ideas to life through compelling visuals. I’ve been drawing my entire life and working professionally for nearly 7 years, collaborating with both private clients and companies such as Feerik Games, Asmodee (Fantasy Flight) ChessX, and Obvious Mimic. My work includes illustrations for mobile games, tabletop games, solo adventure books, and commercial fantasy art. I’m a self-taught artist, having built my foundation through dedicated study of high-quality online resources and mentorship from artists like Proko, Marco Bucci, and Mike Azevedo. I’ve also strengthened my fundamentals through classic texts by James Gurney and Andrew Loomis. My background includes traditional media such as colored pencils, graphite, oil, and gouache, which strongly informs my digital work. I’m proficient in Photoshop and have a working knowledge of Blender. I value clear communication, thoughtful feedback, and continuous learning — always looking for better ways to solve visual problems and tell engaging stories through art.

At Obvious Mimic, I contributed to the production of all five solo adventure books released to date, creating a wide range of visual assets including cover illustrations, character designs, item illustrations, environment art, and graphic design elements for the books’ interior pages. I am also the lead artist behind the “Sidequest” series — a monthly 5e solo adventure published through their Patreon — where I developed the visual identity and illustrations for each release. Over the course of this collaboration, I dedicated more than 1,500 hours to bringing their ideas and narratives to life, producing hundreds of high-quality illustrations focused on strong storytelling, immersive worldbuilding, and polished presentation.

  • 2d Character Artist at FEERIK GAMES
    May 2024 - Aug 2024 · 4 mos

During my time at Feerik Games, I worked closely with Art Director Clément Martinet on the development of characters for Eredan Arena. My role required balancing creativity and efficiency under tight production deadlines, taking each character from early sketch exploration to fully rendered final artwork. A core part of the process involved designing three distinct evolution-level variations for every character, ensuring that each stage felt visually unique while still maintaining a cohesive identity and strong readability within the game’s art direction. This experience strengthened my ability to iterate quickly, solve visual design challenges under pressure, and consistently deliver polished artwork within demanding production schedules.
