Milan, Lombardy, Italy
Hello! I am Furqan Ali, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Milan, Italy. My Master’s thesis focuses on the electrosynthesis of Adrenaline through the electroreduction of its precursor compound, Adrenalone, in a bipolar electrochemical cell using naturally derived chiral deep eutectic solvents (DESs). In this research, I have performed the electrochemical characterization of chiral DESs by investigating their enantioselective behavior and utilizing them as both supporting electrolytes and chiral recognition media for the preferential synthesis of (-)-epinephrine. During my thesis work, I have gained hands-on experience in several electrochemical and analytical techniques, including Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV), Amperometry, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and Chiral HPLC. Before starting my Master’s, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a CGPA of 4.21/5 (Hungarian scale) from the University of Pécs, Hungary. My Bachelor’s thesis focused on the synthesis of capsaicin derivatives modified with nitroxide rings, followed by their characterization using Mass Spectrometry (MS), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Infrared Spectroscopy (IR). I also studied their potential activation of the TRPV1 ion channel through laboratory investigations. I am expected to complete my Master’s degree in October 2026 and am actively looking for PhD opportunities focused on electrosynthesis, electrocatalysis, bipolar organic electrochemistry, and related electrochemical research areas. I am also open to opportunities in industry, particularly in Research & Development and electrochemical innovation. I would be happy to connect with experienced researchers, academics, and recruiters working in areas related to electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, sustainable chemistry, and advanced materials research.
