As assistant professor of European literature Radboud University, I teach courses on modern literature and literary theory in different programs at the Faculty of Arts. My research revolves around the function of literature in public debates, and on the use of literature in diplomatic contexts in particular. I have a background in English studies, with a focus on the Victorian novel. In my most recent investigations, I am working on two projects: one dealing with British poetry and international cooperation in the 19th century, the other focusing on Central-European modernism and infrastructure in the interwar period. As a part of my outreach activities, I have been involved in various creative collaborations, including a graphic novel adaptation of a Victorian novel, a documentary about literary criticism, a board game that simulates academic research, and interviews with contemporary writers. I fulfill a variety of professional roles, including that of editor of the European Journal of English Studies, chair of European Consortium for Humanities Institutes and Centres, and coordinator of the MA in Literary Studies.
