• Programme manager for production facility development. • The VIP Programme was a portfolio of three projects to provide Biovac with local vaccine manufacturing capabilities. These projects included Technology Transfer, Production Facility Development and Operationalisation Projects with overall cost of +- R200m. • Leading multi-disciplinary project teams balancing Quality, Cost and Timelines. • Management of diverse group of Project Managers, Sub-project managers, Discipline Engineers, External Consultants and Engineers. • Making sure the Project Methodologies are adhered to. • Ensuring project Governance is adhered to in terms of sign-offs and approvals. • Co-developing PMO (Programme Management Office) departmental processes with PMO Manager and Project Managers. • Gained detailed knowledge of pharmaceutical production facility development in terms of relevant standards and cGMP guidelines. • Working closely with Dutch Programme Sponsor providing invaluable insights into pharma facility development including quality of infrastructure and international procurement/contracting to ultimately enable WHO pre-qualification. • Equipment Qualifications in Germany, Switzerland and India. Witnessed Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and IQs/OQs; making sure equipment is built and installed to Biovac User Requirements. • Provide technical leadership for the Quality Control Laboratory Upgrade Project and for the Vaccine Viewing, Labelling and Packaging (VLP) Facility development during start-up phases of project. • Biovac representative for ISS-TAT Programme. This Italian Government funded Programme aimed to develop, manufacture and test an Aids candidate vaccine in South Africa. ISS funded part of the production facility development at Biovac. Progress reporting, Steer-com meetings, Tranche/Claims management and Cost Reporting. Ensuring Biovac passes all the Funder’s Monitoring and Evaluation (MAE) audits.
• Operations manager/factory manager for diversified fresh food manufacturer with Woolworths as exclusive customer. • 7-Day/week operation including two factories; Prepared Foods and Fresh Produce (combined 700-800 staff members) • Products includes fresh vegetables, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, hamburgers, quiche, fresh and cooked soup packs, pates • Managing team of production managers, maintenance manager, housekeeping manager, off-bound logistics foreman and site security. • Liaison with Woolworths planners, buyers, department heads and quality assurance managers on regular basis. • Upholding and building the Woolworths brand and brand values. • Reduction of raw material variances and labour costs to improve profitability. • Enforce high levels of hygiene through on-going training and strict staff discipline. • Ensuring production facilities are kept in a constant state of readiness for unannounced International Britannica Quarterly Audits. • Equipment selection and capacity planning for future product lines and growth. • Driving of cost cutting exercises to reduce operational costs.
• Project engineer on project to produce global first liquid book moulding machine to produce the chewy centre for bite size candies. Design of production kitchen to supply toffee to forming machine. Project budget R6 million. • Rework system for hard-boiled candies. • Line modifications to run new centre filled candies. • Bubble gum dual extrusion/ flavour morphism project write-up and proposals. • Metal detection/X-ray proposals to business as part of HACCP process. • Member of GMP and HACCP implementation team. • Production process analysis; improvement of production processes (snack food division) • Turnkey project management for the installation of a continuous confectionery cooking line - installation and commissioning of continuous cooking hard boiled candy line – (See Sovereign Sweets below for more information) • Creating technical commercial document for the purchase or a tetrahedral packaging machine for Power Jellies and creating works map for the critical packaging design.
