Frank is an ambitious and dedicated student studying for a BS in Public Health on the Pre-Med track at American University. He has over 960 hours (4+ years) in volunteer experience, 500+ hours in scientific research and 180+ hours of clinical work experience. He is proficient in customer service, patient and able to achieve the goals he sets both for himself and his company/peers, shown through previous work at Horwood House Hotel as a Spa and Housekeeping assistant manager. As a youth soccer coach and referee he gained good childcare skills. He am passionate about sports, and research into human anatomy and combining both into a hopeful sports medicine career. Open to job opportunities and internships in the medical sector.
Prepares promising undergraduate pre-health students for medical school, with a strong focus on underserved populations and health equity. Frank will participate in clinical rotations or shadowing at sites like MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, observing how various demographics interact with the healthcare system; Engage in community outreach and health equity initiatives throughout the Washington, D.C. area to understand social determinants of health through volunteering at Sleep in heavenly Peace and present a capstone project on his 6 week laboratory studies.
Continuing in Oncology research, under the supervision of Dr Shubhankar Suman and Dr Kamendra Kumar. Creating my own research, Investigating the Effects of Ionizing Radiation on the Enteric Nervous System.
Appointed by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences to the Sine Institute Student Advisory Committee. As a member of the Sine Institute Student Advisory board, I contribute my expertise to the thinking to the current and future work of Sine Institute. I meet with the Executive Director to discuss bringing together experts from public, private, academic, and nonprofit sectors, alongside journalism and students and find common ground/nonpartisan solutions to pressing domestic and international policy challenges. I will also be acting as a spokesperson for the Sine Institute as well as serving as an ambassador for the Sine AU Community, engage with students and serve as a resource for those interested in getting involved.
As a peer advisor for the College of Arts and Sciences, I will be navigating through American University's learning programs varying from: scheduling classes, costs of classes and many more; to provide my fellow students with insights on questions they have regarding their education. I will be undertaking case studies alongside having meetings with students who have any inquiries. This role will help me build my excel skills, alongside case management, critical thinking and further my knowledge of how AU's academic system works.
I will be refereeing a variety of sports as part of American University Recreational Sports and Fitness team.
I am currently working as an after school enrichment student-teacher at Active Play, at local elementary schools in DC. I teach my students (ranging from PreK-5th grade) different subjects each session. I always encourage teamwork, passion and empathy for one another, to build a safe learning environment. I too learn from this experience, on how I can improve my teaching, active listening, public speaking and managerial skills.
