About

Frank Abaiweh is medical doctor from the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Buea, and a 2025 Pan-African Organization for Health, Education and Research (POHER) Scholar Alumnus. He is passionate about improving access to safe surgical care and empowering African youth to achieve global excellence. Over the years, he has combined his medical training with leadership in global health advocacy and youth development. He currently serves as a Technical Reviewer for the United Nations Global Surgery Learning Hub, contributing to the advancement of surgical education and capacity building worldwide. He is also a co-founder of the Association of Future African Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons, an initiative dedicated to mentoring and preparing young African surgeons for global competitiveness. At the national level, he leads InciSioN Cameroon, where he advocates for equitable access to surgical, obstetric, anesthesia, and trauma care, guided by the belief that where a person lives should not determine whether they live. In 2023, he had the opportunity to collaborate with changemakers from 138 countries at UNLEASH Rwanda, co-creating innovative solutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recognizing the information gap that limits opportunities for many young Africans, he also founded the Opportunities Newsletter, a platform that curates and disseminates global scholarships, fellowships, and professional development opportunities for African youth seeking to expand their horizons. His interests lie at the intersection of surgery, education, leadership, and youth empowerment. His long-term vision is to contribute to building resilient health systems across Africa while mentoring and inspiring the next generation of African medical leaders. He welcomes opportunities to collaborate on projects related to global surgery, youth development, health systems strengthening, and SDG-driven healthcare innovation, and remains committed to learning from and contributing to diverse global perspectives. This version is suitable for conference biographies, magazine features, award nominations, professional profiles, and institutional publications.
