I am a qualified Chartered Accountant working for OUTsurance as CFO for our South African operations. This includes our Short Term insurance, Life Insurance as well as our Shared Services business. Previously at OUTsurance I've held the role as Head of Finance Operations, as well as a role of General Manager: Commercial and Audit within the Claims Procurement function. Prior to joining OUTsurance, I was the Head of Finance: Rest of Africa at Absa Insurance. My role was to oversee the Finance function for Absa Insurance's interests in the Rest of Africa. Prior to joining Absa I spent time in the United Kingdom with Deloitte, specifically in their audit function where I was an audit manager. I managed an audit portfolio where I led field teams on large multi-national companies as clients. I also worked on Advisory projects, specifically in Finance Transformation. My training as an accountant was done with Deloitte South Africa where I spent three years before spending four months with Ernst & Young in Internal Audit. Due to my international work experience, my network spans countries globally. I have experience in various industries but with a focus on non-banking Financial Services, specifically Short Term insurance. Together with our wider Procurement team, I am responsible for managing cost in both our Motor and Non-Motor (Buildings and Contents) supply chain. This involves negotiating large commercial contracts and the daily use of data to inform supply chain decisions.
I was responsible for overseeing various Finance outcomes for the Absa Group’s Short Term Insurance businesses in the Rest of Africa (excluding South Africa). These included business performance and reporting, planning and forecasting as well as extensive engagement with senior management to ensure strategic alignment. Territories included Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania. Also sat on the Boards of the Kenyan and Mozambican businesses as an invitee where I gained valuable Board experience and exposure.
I was responsible for managing the various finance functions specifically within WIMI Distribution in Barclays Africa. This entailed oversight of the Financial Control and Management Information functions to ensure that reporting responsibilities and strategic analysis were completed to a high standard and delivered the insight needed to aid decision making. I was also responsible for managing all aspects of the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring that the budget reflected the business strategy and direction.

- Running field work of specific audit assignments, including coordination and supervision of the audit team; - Pre-engagement, planning and audit performance, as well as reporting activities including the preparation of financial statements; - Supervision and review of junior team members work; and - Maintaining good client relationships by providing technical expertise.
