Senior lecturer in Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University

About

I am a registered Industrial Psychologist (HPCSA), and hold a doctorate from Stellenbosch University. My career can broadly be divided into three areas: 1) working in HR-related positions in the corporate environment; 2) managing my own research consultancy; and 3) lecturing full-time at Stellenbosch University. I see myself as a scientific practitioner with the ability to bridge the gap between academia and practice, bringing a scientific mind-set to business, and a practical mind-set to academia. My career started in 2003 when I was appointed as an industrial psychology intern at a national retailer, and later promoted to a human resource practitioner. After I registered as a psychometrist, and later industrial psychologist, I started a research consultancy. During a period of 7 years, I was involved with various large-scale research and development projects for various corporate companies. The projects focused on the development and validation of assessment instruments, as well as on assisting organisations with their human resource practices and procedures. I have a special interest in human resource management strategy; psychometrics, recruitment and selection; performance management; succession management; competency modelling; and remuneration management. My academic career started in January 2013 when I was employed at Stellenbosch University in the Industrial Psychology Department. My focus is on psychometrics, research methodology, strategic human resource management, remuneration, psychological well-being and motivation.
