SPS is a leading pan-African funder, developer and operator of solar PV and battery storage plants in the commercial & industrial (C&I) market. We are a portfolio company of Gridworks, part of British International Investment (BII), the United Kingdom’s development finance institution, and NewGX, owned by South African entrepreneur Khudusela Pitje. With the funding provided by our shareholders, we are able to offer finance solutions to businesses and partner with developers and EPC partners across the region. Our team is proactively driving renewable energy initiatives within the C&I sector, with over 115 MWp of solar and 21 MWh of battery storage projects installed.
SPS Investments previously operated under the ‘Mettle Solar’ brand. We focus on providing innovative funding solutions in order to provide businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa with access to high quality solar and battery solutions. In 2015, we acquired a 50% interest in Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS), one of Southern Africa’s leading solar engineering firms.
Our business focuses on the design, installation, financing and maintenance of commercial and industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for private consumption, ranging in size from 80kWp to 5MWp. We offer grid-connected, hybrid (solar/genset) and off-grid (storage) solar PV solutions across Southern Africa. We are flexible in our commercial offering, which ranges from turn-key EPC solutions with full performance warranties to fully funded solar PV systems with no capital outlay required by the client. We offer innovative financial solutions with a quick turnaround time throughout Africa.
