Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa
I am the managing director of an independent risk consultancy based in Pretoria, South Africa. I help my clients to use risk management to make better decisions on a project, operational and enterprise level. This includes the creation of risk registers, contingency estimation and project schedule simulation. I also provide various types of risk related training. I have more than 25 years’ experience in all aspects of the value chain (in and outbound logistics, operations, manufacturing, sales & marketing and service) together with strong analytical, project management and business administration skills. My most valuable skills include converting complex problems and their related chaos into usable information and identifying and implementing innovative process improvements. My core competencies include risk management (Project/Operations/Enterprise), risk audits (Projects / Operations), risk simulation, corporate governance, and business continuity management. One of the main reasons people ask me for help is the combination of broad formal academic education coupled with the ability to understand complex problems and to practical, implementable solutions to these problems. I was trained as a mechanical engineer, and subsequently obtained the degrees MEng (Engineering Management), MBA, MPhil (Ethics in the business place) and PhD. The work for the PhD was related to doing risk simulation on a portfolio of port and rail capital projects. My clients also appreciate my collaborative and consultative approach, and know they will able to implement the advice given to them.
