At present senior geologist as freelance consultant. 2016-2019 mining senior geologist at Heidelberg Cement Group. and 1995 – 2016 at Italcementi Group in service of the Mineral Resources Service, where he has gained experience both nationally and internationally (Europe, North Africa, America, Asia), providing continuous assistance to the group subsidiaries. In particular he had the responsibility to carry on geological studies on the raw materials quarries/deposits, both for the quality/reserves-resources control (3D geochemical block model, mining plan) and for the geotechnical/geomechanical characterization (quarry slope design, stability and control). He also participated in brownfield/green field projects and in various due diligence for the potential acquisition of external plants. 1987-1995 consultant at ISMES (ENEL) -Rock Mechanics Department for geological, geomorphological, geomechanical surveys and investigatons of ENEL and AEM hydroelectric power plants sites.
- In contact with HTC staff (Heidelberg C. headquarters), continuing the technical assistance to the subsidiaries. Principal activities: • PERC classification (Pan-European Reserves & Resources Reporting Committee) of Calcestruzzi aggregates quarries; • Inspection of ITC cement plants/quarries together HTC staff, focalizing the raw materials reserves/resources quality and quantity aspects;
CTG - Mineral Resources Department Beside the duties reported below (see period 1995-2008, geological dept.): - geological-mining studies for: • preparing mining plans (raw-mix design optimization); • updating group reserves reports; • regional geological studies for raw materials occurrences (subsidiaries areas, new potential markets areas); -engineering geology investigations for : • the vibration analysis produced by blasting in quarry areas vs the slope stability; other activities: • technical auditing of the subsidiaries quarry sites;
CTG - Geological Department -geological explorations and geological-mining studies for: • resources/reserves evaluation of cement/lime raw materials (geo-chemical modeling) • green fields projects and revamping projects of existent plants • due diligences on external quarries/geological deposits - engineering geology investigations for: • mining plan design (final pit stability analysis) to optimize the mining reserves • slopes stability analysis & control of quarries/sterile deposits • landslides study in mining areas & remediation projects • realization of shafts, artificial caves and tunnels of underground crusher–belt conveyor systems (technical assistance to external companies) • wells for cement plants and the study of wells pumping systems for dewatering quarry areas • soil foundation study of cement/grinding plant facilities (buildings, silos, ropeways,.. ) • site analysis of hydroelectric power plants facilities of the Italian subsidiary (dams and their soil foundation state, reservoirs slopes stability, water feed channels soil foundation, etc) -other activities: • evaluation/comparison of economical offers from external companies for geological, geotechnical and geophysical works (drill campaigns, on site and lab tests, geological investigations,..) • geological training for young colleagues (corporate/subsidiaries) • signing legal technical documents for the Italian subsidiary (mining lease, environmental impact assessment, building construction lease)
At the Rock Mechanics Department for geological, geomorphological, geomechanical surveys and investigatons of ENEL and AEM hydroelectric power plants sites (reservoir areas, dams sites, underground powerhouse, tunnels for pipeline, water feed channels, etc.). Stratigraphic and geomechanical/geotechnical loggings of core drills (rocks and soils, concretes). Studies on large landslides, wind farms and high-speed train sites (TAV BO-FI). Investigations and new researches of applied petrography (rocks, soils, treated soils and concretes). Worksite assistance (drillings, tracks,..).
Involved in applied petrography investigations (machines and plants for marble and granite processing).
