INTERREG IVA 2 SEAS PROJECT Context: Textile was a major historic economic sector in the 2 Seas area. Over the last decades, this sector has undergone a series of radical transformations. The competitive advantages of the sector are now found in a focus on quality and design, innovation and technology, and high value-added products. But textile stakeholders are struggling to communicate the economic and cultural potential of textiles to young people. This threatens both the preservation of our textile heritage for future generations, and the exploitation of textile's economic and cultural potential in the 2 seas area - crucial in a global context. In the regions of Oudenaarde (City of Ronse, BE), Medway (UCA, UK), Devon (Integria, UK) and Pas de Calais (City of Calais, FR), organizations with expertise in the heritage and/or future of textiles want to merge their competences in leading actions that will allow the regions to share, learn and grow with regard to the cross-border questions 'how does our textile heritage relate to present-day textile evolutions, how can we safeguard and activate our heritage and how can textile translate into a cultural, educational and economic future'; under the name of Crysalis.
