I am a first-class graduate in Law LLB from the University of East Anglia who is aspiring to become a barrister. I will be commencing the Bar course with the Inns of Court College of Advocacy this September.
I volunteered at the clinic, supporting solicitors who give pro-bono advice to clients. My role involved booking client meetings and taking attendance notes.
• Drafted employment contracts and contributed to employee handbooks. • Carried out legal research on employment law as requested by a consultant to be used in their podcast. • Conducted legal research for a director employment law consultant in relation to legal questions raised by their clients (employers) which included constructive unfair dismissal, implied resignation, redundancies and discrimination. • Attended a meeting with a client where the consultants advised amendments to the employee handbook. This included removal of duplicated policies. • Listened to a webinar on recent case law. Possible changes post the General Election to legislation were also discussed such as increased power to Trade Unions and banning of zero-hour contracts.
Provided written/oral submissions in a range of legal scenarios including criminal, contract and tort. Enhanced my advocacy skills and responded to Judge interventions. Prepared a bundle and skeleton argument which included authorities. 2023/24: Beginners- reached the quarter-finals. Advanced- finished runner-up.
