During my professional career, I have been regarded as a subject matter expert (SME) in payroll upload processes while working for Hewitt Associates, hosted a segment of a Shelby County Government public affairs tv program, earned the distinction of Level 5 teacher, created various benefit presentations for Open Enrollment, New Hire Orientation, and New Teacher Orientation, and hosted webinars and focus groups for the employee population on benefit-related topics. I focus on finding happiness both professionally and personally, and I welcome new opportunities and challenges. Develop, design and implement strategic people and talent management solutions across the enterprise. Support the development and execution of initiatives that promote individual and organizational effectiveness. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs; create and implement developmental activities; and foster a talent management structure grounded in ALSAC’s Core Competencies. • Managing and developing a 3-year, multi-phase strategic plan for performance management that incorporates core competency alignment, enhancements to the EXIS technology system (Workday), implementation of shared goals, adaptation of quarterly reviews, and formulation of key metrics and performance indicators to align the performance management cycle with the overall enterprise strategic plan.
Manages, administers, and monitors the group health and welfare plans. Directs all wellness initiatives. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws while meeting employee needs and managing plan costs. Maintains a highly collaborative relationship with and manages activities across internal teams such as Finance, Payroll, Internal Communications, and Legal. • Recommended and implemented new benefits programs to include new vendors for life/disability, employee discounts, employee support program, EAP and COBRA vendors. Evaluated plan design and benefits costs which resulted in savings of over $250,000 annually. • Managed the creation and revision of Standard Operating Procedures for Total Rewards to document, evaluate and revise internal processes to ensure uniformity and efficiency in processes. • Organized, managed and implemented multiple company-wide well-being initiatives including mental health month activities that included creating targeted mental health communication pieces and resources that generated a 100% increase in viewership of our company's well-being page and displayed and improved the organization's commitment to the mental health needs of all employees. • Designed and managed a new Total Rewards website to create continuity, improve information flow, establish one-to-one relationships between content and accessibility, and improve the overall employee experience when searching for total rewards information. • Created and designed various presentations, hosted enterprise-wide webinars, and created benefit resources including our annual enrollment Ask Me Anything presentation which was presented to approximately 400 employees and a Benefits-at-a-Glance Guide that will be used for recruitment and retention efforts. • Gathered employee data and oversaw the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of invoices for payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
Responsible for the overall planning, management, and implementation of the SCS district wide Covid-19 testing program. Works with primary stakeholders to develop project scope of work documents and project plans. Uses project management skills to manage project roles, identify resource requirements, meet training needs, define project deliverables, provide customer satisfaction and reporting structures, and ensure quality of projects. Maintains and ensures effective communication and a productive relationship between business units and project team members. • Optimizing the grant administration process for the state-awarded $30 million Epidemiology Laboratory Capacity Grant for more than 200 district and charter schools within Shelby County. • Co-wrote the Scope of Services agreement and Board Briefing documents to be presented to the SCS Board of Education for initial and final approvals • Created and voiced district training materials for over 200 Covid-19 site coordinators to confirm the understanding of key deliverables needed to ensure a seamless testing program in our schools and as a basis to administer stipends.
Plan, analyze, develop, implement, and communicate Shelby County Schools' total wellbeing initiatives and employee recognition programs to reduce health risks, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles as well as increase employee morale and help establish SCS as a true employer of choice. Advise, consult, communicate and resolve employee benefit related issues. • Developed a comprehensive wellness plan for the entire district based on increased awareness of employee benefits, focused efforts to combat chronic conditions suffered by our employee population, increased attention on behavioral health, and improved financial wellness through student loan counseling and relief. • Created and voiced benefits presentations for Virtual New Hire Orientation, New Teacher Orientation, and Open Enrollment as well as hosted live, virtual benefit sessions for our benefit eligible population. Received an overall rating of 4.83 out of 5 from the corresponding post-presentation surveys. • Worked with the Communications department in redesigning the benefits section of the HR website and developed content for the various district communication platforms such as Teacher Weekly and District Updates, which are viewed by over 8,000 employees. • Leading efforts to create a sick leave bank to give employees options should they suffer through a major illness and no longer have sick leave available.
Responsible for the direct instruction of students through instructional planning, curriculum implementation, and the monitoring and assessing of academic progress to determine strengths and deficiencies while maintaining complete and accurate student academic and disciplinary records. • Selected as one of only 105 district finalists among over 1200 nominated teachers for the “My Favorite Educator Golden Apple Award.” • Successfully created and implemented the Drop Everything and Write Campaign in preparation for the statewide Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) Writing Test which resulted in an 87% passing rate earning Northwest Prep Academy a rating of 4 out of 5 score for school-wide data outcomes. • Selected to serve as one of two Dual Credit Speech and Communications Teachers at Whitehaven High School.
Administered the employee benefits program of Shelby County Government to include development of a comprehensive benefit plan, maintenance of employee/family benefit eligibility status in the benefit systems, and the monitoring of employees on FMLA to ensure federally mandated rights and notices regarding benefit maintenance and premium payment were offered. Resolved complex customer inquiries regarding all benefits programs. Processed juvenile support orders and reconciled discrepancies with issuing agency. Reviewed monthly premium statements/ invoices for group insurance contracts regarding enrollment and applicable administrative fees. Supervisory responsibilities as assigned. • Instrumental in helping to develop three year goals and objectives for the benefits program at Shelby County Government in an effort to present a more comprehensive benefits package while managing costs. • Reduced backlog of Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMSCO) by over 80% by researching and developing processes to successfully enforce those orders while staying within wage garnishment guidelines. • Selected among over 40 applicants (via audition) to host two segments of the new Shelby County Government talk show to increase awareness of issues within County Government.
