Barqo is the online boat rental platform. Our two-sided marketplace connects (private & commercial) boat owners and renters. In 2019, we solidified our market leadership in The Netherlands by acquiring our largest domestic competitor, Botentehuur.nl. In January 2022, we were acquired by The Boat Engine/Borrow A Boat. This acquisition has significantly strengthened Barqo’s position in the Dutch market and is fueling the expansion of The Boat Engine/ Borrow A Boat into additional global markets. In March 2024, The Boat Engine/Borrow A Boat completed the acquisition of Zizoo, the largest German boat rental marketplace. This strategic move has created one of the world’s largest boating marketplaces, with a global footprint, customer base and reach. In March 2026, the original founders reacquired Barqo and Botentehuur.nl - bringing both brands back to where they started. Separately, The Boat Engine/Borrow A Boat was acquired by Five Seasons Yachting Group (FSY), one of the most integrated groups in global yachting. As part of FSY, we're building on a stronger foundation in platform, technology, and international reach.
