About

Some of the most recognisable companies in Germany only get insured because the insurers behind them can transfer the risk. That transfer is what I make possible. I work with German-speaking insurance companies on the facultative placement of their largest and most complex risks in global reinsurance markets, so they can underwrite the original insured that matter most and stay on the risk with confidence. And when those placements are complex, time-pressured, and have no obvious path to market, that is precisely where I do my best work. I always wanted to work on the big tickets. The risks that are too large, too complex, and too exposed for any single insurer to carry alone. Reinsurance is where those risks live, and global markets are where they get solved. That was never an accident. That was the plan. Today I work in facultative reinsurance at AON, placing complex risks for German-speaking cedants in global markets, often under serious time pressure, always with clients who need a broker who does more than relay terms. I also lecture at BWV Nord, which has taught me something I didn’t expect: most people in insurance have never been shown how reinsurance actually works, and the moment they are, something clicks. Curiosity follows. That’s not a small thing. That’s the next generation of this industry deciding whether it matters. On where this is all going: I believe reinsurance will remain a people business longer than most think, and change faster than most are prepared for. AI will absorb large parts of the operational work. What it cannot absorb is judgment, relationships, and the ability to structure something no algorithm has seen before. The brokers who understand both sides of that shift will define the next decade. The ones who don’t will be defined by it. I write about all of this, the market, the risks, the shift, and what it takes to place the ones that actually matter.
