The Group Management Board is responsible for day-to-day financial and commercial management and follow-up in the Group. It also strives to continually achieve synergies, identify acquisitions and structural opportunities as well as to adapt group operations to market demands and short and long-term developments. Group Management makes sure that the competence and capacity of the Group is coordinated and adjusted to be as useful and profitable as possible in the short and long term.
As global COO, I was accountable for Operations, P&L, Customer Service, Freight (mostly small parcel), Facilities & Safety, Loss Prevention, Industrial Engineering, Back Office, Compliance, and Project Management. In this role, my key achievements (amongst others) included a greater than 30% increase in operational gross profit over a 12-month period, a steady decline in credits issued as a percentage of revenue, a controlled and significantly reduced chargeback backlog, and the strongest NPS results in three years, demonstrating measurable customer satisfaction. Bergen Logistics is a global, publicly-owned 3PL with facilities in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and Asia. It focuses on the high-end fashion and lifestyle customer segment, serving over 400 clients, from small local niche brands to large global names in the industry.
As General Manager and Managing Director of Bergen Logistics B.V. in Europe, I was responsible for spearheading the development and European roll-out of the Bergen Logistics brand strategy, while also leading the global expansion of the Bergen brand through a franchise model. I held P&L and operational accountability for all European facilities, driving significant sales and marketing initiatives in alignment with the go-to-market strategy. My leadership resulted in the addition of numerous new facilities across Europe, successful business model implementation, and year-over-year profitable growth of +30%.
As Head of Bergen Logistics Europe and Managing Director of Bergen Logistics B.V., this role focused on developing the brand strategy and leading its roll-out for the European market, as well as heading the global Bergen brand roll-out as a franchise model. With full P&L and operational accountability for all European facilities, the position focused on driving sales and marketing activities aligned with the go-to-market strategy. Key achievements included adding numerous new facilities to the European map, implementing the business model, and pushing for significant growth in Europe, resulting in 30% profitable growth year over year.
As Managing Director for two subsidiaries spanning eight locations across Germany and the Czech Republic, this role held full P&L accountability for over €35 million in annual revenue and leadership for a total staff of 400 employees. Responsibilities included operational and strategic oversight for multiple international customers, successfully winning and implementing new business aligned with regional strategic development plans. This position also involved leading diverse projects focused on areas such as ramp-ups, integration, digitalization, restructuring, internationalization, optimization, and turnarounds. Furthermore, the role involved developing and executing the regional strategy for Germany and the Czech Republic, establishing shop-floor management, and significantly improving safety and leadership culture.
