I am a hard working undergraduate, aspiring towards a successful legal career. Currently studying Law at the University of York I hope to secure a training contract at a leading global law firm. My ambition has led me to take initiative in finding opportunities that haven’t always been readily available. I’m always searching for ways to improve and stand out from the crowd. I also enjoy networking and learning of different perspectives, in the hopes of becoming a well-rounded individual.
Rotated across four departments: Property Litigation, Commercial and Charities, Employment, and Banking and Finance. Analysed a lease to identify grounds for termination in a property litigation dispute, conducting research using Westlaw practitioner notes. Reviewed NDAs and commercial contracts to identify discrepancies and potentially restrictive clauses, honing attention to detail. Researched and authored a client-facing article on the anticipated impact of Renters' Rights reforms, translating complex legislative developments into clear, accessible updates. Developed familiarity with key finance documents including term sheets, and engaged with a Conditions Precedent schedule in response to an opposing party's mark-ups. Gained understanding of multi-jurisdictional IP protection strategies and the watch services law firms offer clients. Proactively organised virtual networking sessions with solicitors across the firm's offices nationwide, demonstrating initiative.
Shadowed associates and trainees in the Real Estate practice area, completing tasks on active matters. Networked with lawyers across various departments. Gained insight into the inner workings of a global, leading law firm.
