Providing technical support across the Biochemistry Dept, School of Biosciences and Medicine, with a focus on research support for the Cardiovascular Section. ▪ Radiation Protection Supervisory Technician (RPS qualified by Public Health England) in unsealed source laboratories across the School. Responsibilities include source acquisition, contamination monitoring, waste disposal, cradle-to-grave record keeping with Isostock ▪ Clinical Investigations Unit ▪ Hazardous waste disposal for the School (chemical, radioactive, clinical) ▪ Large communal lab areas housing several research groups - general lab use includes molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, and mammalian cell culture (clean and working with primary tissue) ▪Bioplex/Luminex technology multiplex immunoassay ▪ Covid-19: LFD mass-testing
Laboratory-based technician in Systems Biology. ▪ Equipment maintenance, including calibration (e.g. qPCR), organisation of servicing and repairs, and provision of training. ▪ Health and Safety compliance. Writing/revision of risk assessments, reviewing practice, participating in internal H&S inspections. ▪ Supporting research.
